Thanks to pretty much everyone in the middle part of the Eastern Conference, including Carolina, in a huge slump, the Canes are still in the top 8.

This week also featured a trade to San Jose of Ian White.

For Between the Boards we honor the man of the week, Rod Brind'Amour looking over his entire career both in Raleigh and elsewhere.

We close with a preview and amazing fact of the week.

The cost to download this show is the same as the chances as someone of ever wearing number 17 in Raleigh again.

Download the show here

Yeah we are recording Monday

So Brooks traded in his NC State Red and White for Duke Blue and White to cheer with the Cameron Crazies. In three of the four games, goals scored in the final 90 seconds drastically impact the game. Ignoring the fact these games were on the road, the Canes played probably their toughest opponents during one week and came out pretty well.

Hands down the story in hockey this week was the two unreal games we saw with Boston / Montreal and Pittsburgh / Islanders. For the first time ever, due to these games being so memorable, we on the Storm Report Podcast talk about games having nothing to do with the Canes as we were fortunate enough to see both these games in entirety.

Between the Boards features some end of season predictions with oddsmakers dealing with both the Canes and the NHL as a whole.

We close with a preview of a week with opponents we saw this week and then close with a crazy fact dealing with the Islanders goalies this year.

Enjoy a great show. We talk all about this.

Then it's all about the All Star Game. The draft, the skills, the game, opinions on the format and all that. Then it gets good.

Between the two of us, we were able to meet roughly 30 people, including players, involved with the NHL. We get into first hand accounts of players drunk and walking around Raleigh with no pants on, players with prostitutes, players criticizing the city they play in, players hitting on married women and let's not forget the all important trips to clubs late at night. Man do we have some stories....

Check out some awesome insider info before we do the standard preview and fact of the week. But it wasn't very standard actually...

We have done roughly 50 shows in our time, and this might be the best. We review each of the 4 games and we are in a happy mood.

After a quick All Star Note, we do one of the best Between the Boards segments of the year - mid-season report cards. That's right friends, we have played half of our games already and we have enough to give each player a grade.

The week preview looks a return of a former cane, an old rival and a huge division match up. A quick fact of the week before we close.

It's a great show. Lots of Canes banter and honest opinions. We look at the realistic lines and the major changes this week and then it's mailbag time. We discuss, per an email request, our top 18 players if there were no contracts salaries or rules to worry about. We then discuss a 5 - 1 loss in Vancouver.

Between the Boards this week looks at the history of the Canes with their draft picks and some of the successes, and some of the failures.

We preview a game, which finally takes place in the States I might add before closing the show out.

It's here. Aaron Ward, Scott Walker, Joe Corvo, Stephane Yelle and Andrew Alberts all found new homes but curiously, Ray Whitney did not. Our spotlight game for March was a 4-0 loss to Phoenix, a game that served as a reality check to anyone with playoff dreams.

We wrap things up in April with a quick month. Our spotlight game came on the last home game of the season that saw the return of Casey Borer to the NHL from the Albany bus crash and Eric Staal sending the fans home without their free hats. We also look at all the stats from a horrific season.

It's here and just like always, is free. We are cool like that.

Save an MP3 version here (preferred)

OR

Save an MP3 version here (alternate)

The dramatic continuation of the 2009 - 2010 Season in Review for the Carolina Hurricanes continues now...

For this episode, we pick things back up in December. December saw Cam Ward return from his injury, a trade for a guy named Juri Tlusty, some Canes named to Olympic rosters and two Hurricanes headed to Philly in Kevin McCarthy and Michael Leighton. The spotlight game for this month was Tim Gleason's first game against Alex Ovechkin since the nasty kneeing penalty where then get's 30 stitches and scores the goal of the year all in the same night.

For January, we look back at the story of the season with Eric Staal becoming the fifth Captain in our franchise. This month saw good play from the Canes as they went 9-5 as well. Our spotlight game is a win in Atlanta - Staal's first game with the C.

February was a short month but saw Nic Wallin and Matt Cullen sent out of town and the debut of a young goalie named Justin Peters. Our spotlight game is a win on Long Island as Peter's makes his NHL debut stopping 34 of New York's 35 shots on him.

And a special moment for this show - the Bryan Hoyle mispronunciation of the season.

It's available here and only here and for free!

Download an MP3 Version here (preferred)

OR

Download an MPR Version here (alternate)

2009 - 2010 Season in Review Part 1

Summer is over! It's time for hockey again and that also means it's time for the Storm Report Podcast again!

For our first show we roll out part 1 of our 3 part season in review show. This show looks back at training camp and all the roster moves the Canes did in a win now attitude. Our October spotlight game was a loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins which had the best hit of the year, best save of the year and gave the Canes hope amidst a 14 game losing streak.

We then roll into November which had three of the biggest stories for the entire season. The losing streak, the skate cut injuries to Cam Ward and Joe Corvo and one of if not the biggest story all season - our spotlight game for November - the Alex Ovechkin kneeing penalty on Tim Gleason in a loss to the Washington Capitals.

Part 1 is here and just like season, free for you to enjoy! Really the big news this week, as we discuss, was the return of Cam Ward and the play of Brandon Sutter. Cam Ward was unreal, especially in the Montreal win, and Brandon Sutter got his 20th goal this week.

For Between the Boards, we reveal our number 1 moment in franchise history which is without a doubt the Canes winning the Stanley Cup back in 2006

We close with a quick look at some hockey news before previewing the final week of the season.

The show is free.
